Welcome to this weeks show.
Utah is on the verge of a government shutdown! Well, no, not really – but we may not have the bells and whistles budget we come to expect from our state. Why? Well, because Speaker of the House, Becky Lockhart wants to be governor. This translates to her wanting $300 million in new dollars for an iEducation in the state. The Senate says they could find $30 million in between the couch cushions and Governor Herbert has threatened an all out veto.
Thankfully, this will ensure that there will be something else to talk about during the inevitable special session that will be needed to discuss (not) Medicaid expansion – a discussion that probably should have taken place two years ago.
All this and legitimate campaign finance (along with an I-told-you-so), and true clean air legislation being gutted before ultimately failing.
Today’s closing song: Battle Without Honor or Humanity – Tomoyasu Hotei
