Welcome to this weeks second episode of the UPC show!
Yes, during the legislative session, we will be providing you with updates to all of the crazy that takes place on Capitol Hill. For this episode, Curtis is joined by UPC writer Alex Cragun and UPC editor Michael Iverson.
As we wrap up the first week of the legislative session, the guys talk about the bonehead decision by Salt Lake City School District administrators to deny kids school lunches…and how it actually produced some bipartisan unity. Speaking of schools, the trio discuss just how underfunded our public school libraries are and the importance of passing Erin’s Law.
In the second half of the show, we don’t pull punches when we explain why Representative Lee Perry’s DUI bill is bad policy. We wrap by talking about Senator Steve Urquhart’s unorthodox press event Friday afternoon where he taped the demand “Hear SB 100” to the Senate Doors.
All this, and an pseudo-apology from the conservative think-tank, the Sutherland Institute.
As a reminder, you can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes or Stitcher or simply searching for Utah Political Capitol in either service. Also, don’t forget that you can track all of the bills we have analyzed over at our Status of Flagged Bills page.
Today’s closing song: Entry of the Gladiators – Julius Fucik
